Ok, apparently a "short walk to Hatshepsut Temple" from the Valley of the Kings is actually a semi-strenuous climb over a mountain. Well, without water, it is. Of course it didn't help that the Egyptian guy at the bottom of the mountain thought it was real funny to tell us the WRONG direction to begin, thus forcing us to climb nearly straight up a rock face to find the trail. Real entertaining, I'm sure, but we did not find it nearly as amusing. Anyway, it turned out to be a beautiful view from the top of the mountain. We could see the desert, where we were standing, the beginning of the Nile River Valley, the Nile, then all the way across to the desert on the other side. It was the first time I had a good idea of what the Nile River Valley really looks like. It really does provide life to this arid place. It was amazing to see the vast differences in the brown desert and the green fields next to the river. Another beautiful view of this country!!!
